Team Yorkshire have had a phenomenal result at the Junior Jamboree - and have become overall winners against 4 other counties. There was some amazing golf, wonderful team camaraderie and team spirit, and the team supported each other from tee to green and from 1st to 18th green and it was wonderful to see.
The team was led out by the Team Captain Ava Mcdaid, and supported by Olivia Metcalfe Chloe Wilson, Alice Motram, Lilly Scott and our own Pocket Rocket Poppy Lane. This was a whole team effort and they did Yorkshire Proud.
Chloe Wilson won the 2 day overall prize with consistent performances on both days.
Scores for the event were:
Yorkshire - 85 points
Lancashire - 72 points
Cheshire. - 71 points
Cumbria - 69 points
Northumberland - 63 points
Four of the girls won their individual matches with the others pushing their opponents to the latter holes
Huge thanks to the parents and Lesley Mather and YLCGA Captain Marlene Dixon for their support and giving me such a sense of pride - comments from all the counties were so complimentary about our girls - their attitudes, behaviour and sporting spirit 💚
Even more thanks go to all the staff at Barrow Golf Club for presenting us with a challenging course, great food and hospitality, and to the Men’s Captain, President and other committee members who joined in with our quiz and games on Tuesday evening - great sports.
And finally major thanks to Cumbria Ladies Golf Association for their organisation, the walkers who were amazing and for providing us with such a fun event.
